Flywheel Marketing vs Traditional Funnels

August 6, 2020

For decades, business was about one thing and one thing only: sales.

Monthly quotas and profit margins made the corporate world go ‘round. It wasn’t valuable to spend your time nurturing relationships and delivering a better customer experience. If you weren’t making money (and a lot of it) then what were you doing?

In the past few years alone, this mindset has shifted drastically. Today’s customers are well-researched, active and intentional about where they spend their hard-earned cash. They want — and expect — their business to not only be transparent in what they sell but also driven to help make the world a better place.

Flywheel Marketing vs Traditional Funnels

If businesses want to succeed and make friends with this new customer, they have to shift from traditional funnels to Flywheel marketing.

Originally coined by Hubspot, the Flywheel model is all about the customer experience. See below:

“The Flywheel is a model adapted by HubSpot to explain the momentum you gain when you align your entire organization around delivering a remarkable customer experience.”

“Other models think of customers as an outcome — nothing more, nothing less. All of the energy you spent acquiring that customer is wasted, leaving you at square one.”

When you move your focus from landing sales to creating happy, repeat customers, you not only deliver a better product and experience, you create a loyal and ongoing relationship with your audience.

That means the more honest effort you put in delivering service, the more likely your customer will support any and every product you push out. They become inclined to help you grow because they enjoy the experience and the community you’ve created.
